Experiential Learning
Our experiential learning opportunities allow students to engage deeply with language and culture beyond the classroom. The following programs empower students to build practical skills, global competence and lifelong connections:
Language House Living-Learning Program
The Language House Immersion Program provides students serious about language learning with the opportunity for daily language and cultural immersion in an organized study environment. Learn more about the Language House.
Language Partner Program
SLLC-ISSS Language Partner Program (LPP) offers majors or minors in any SLLC program at UMD the opportunity to meet with international students outside the classroom and practice their target language in an informal yet structured way. For international students, the LPP provides a forum for connecting with U.S. students and integrating into the UMD campus.

Less Commonly Taught Languages
