Project GO Arabic Program

UMD's Project GO Arabic Program offers a domestic and overseas track.

Project GO at the University of Maryland has two fantastic programs available for ROTC students who wish to study Arabic: An overseas program in Morocco, and a domestic program in College Park, MD.

The domestic track, which is hosted at the UMD Summer Language Institute, offers Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels of Arabic domestically. Students intensively study Arabic for 9-weeks while also participating in a number of cultural activities and workshop to help them develop linguistic as well as cultural fluency. This program is a great place to start learning Arabic before later using your skills to travel abroad, or to continue your previous Arabic studies with our experienced teachers and intensive learning environment.

The overseas track for True Beginners of Arabic takes place at the Arab American Language Institute in Morocco (AALIM) in Meknes, Morocco. Students live with host families, meet one-on-one with native language partners, and participate in organized weekly cultural activities and program excursions to other parts of Morocco. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in Arabic or the Middle East, but have no previous Arabic skills and want to jump start their language-learning journey with an immersive study abroad experience.
