Maya (she/her) received her B.A. in Arabic Studies with Minors in Spanish and Middle East Studies from the University of Maryland, where she participated in the Arabic Flagship Program through the completion of her capstone year. She received her Master’s in Contemporary Arabic Studies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where her thesis focused on a 1960s Moroccan cultural journal. Her prior experience includes nonprofit development, research, editing and communications work, as well as Arabic tutoring and language instructional support.
