German Education Abroad

An integral part of studying German is the immersive experience offered by a summer, semester, or year-long study abroad program. Increase your linguistic and cultural competence through one of the many study abroad programs in a German-speaking country.

The University of Maryland’s Education Abroad office has partnered with a wide range of universities in German-speaking countries to offer students the opportunity to explore the language and cultures of the German-speaking world. Students may enroll in exchanges, direct-enroll programs, or Maryland-in programs to take advantage of living and studying in a German-speaking country. The Department of German Studies encourages students majoring or minoring in German to explore one of the summer, semester, or year-long programs that offer a diverse selection of language and content courses taught in German in cities such as Tübingen, Berlin, and Lüneburg.
