Summer Language Institutes in Arabic and Persian

Registration is open for our summer institutes in Arabic, Korean and Persian
In addition to SLLC courses this summer offered both in person and online, our summer language institute program will be held for Arabic and Persian.
The Summer Language Institutes (SLI) provides a full year of language instruction in just nine weeks. The program features in-person learning with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced level training. Students enroll in either a 6-credit or 12-credit language program and are assessed a flat tuition rate for each 6-credit course, a one-time summer campus services fee, and a program fee.
Early Bird Deadline - Apply by March 15th, 2023 to receive $200 off the cost of attendance
Priority Deadline - Apply by April 7th, 2023 to be eligible for scholarships through the SLI
The final deadline for UMD students to apply to the Summer Language Institute is May 15th, 2023. Students who are not attending UMD during the academic year are required to submit an additional visiting student application. For these deadlines, see below.
In addition to the Summer Language Institute application, all non-UMD students will need to complete a Visiting Student Application through the Office of Extended Studies. Please note that since SLI courses are undergraduate credits, applicants should complete the Undergraduate Visiting Student Application.
The deadline to complete the Visiting Student Application is May 15, 2022 (domestic students) and April 15, 2022 (international students).
Rising high school seniors who wish to participate in the Summer Language Institute must submit an application for Concurrent Enrollment. The deadline to submit this application for the summer is May 1, 2022.
