Language learners and tutors gather to share international dishes at “Around the World Food Tasting”

The Language Learner Partner Program holds its end of semester event

For the final class session of the Language Partner Program (LPP), over 30 learners of Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish gathered with their language tutors for an “Around the World Food Tasting” in the Language House Multipurpose Room in Saint Mary’s Hall on Monday, November 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. Pairs of learners and tutors arranged in advance to prepare and present a dish of cultural significance in English to the group. This year’s contributions included main or side dishes such as Chinese red braised pork belly and mapo tofu, Colombian empanadas, Korean kimbap and tteokbokki, Russian pelmeni and vinegrete, South American arepas, and West African jollof rice; snacks such as Japanese onigiri, and desserts such as Chinese egg tarts, French tarte tatin, German Apfelkuechle, Russian blini and sharlotka, and Spanish arroz con leche.
