The Graduate School will recognize Outstanding Director of Graduate Studies Award recipients

Dear all,

I am writing to inform you that our dear Eyda Merediz was a nominee for the Graduate School’s Outstanding Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) Award for 2013.

Our DGS is the glue that holds together and drives the accomplishments of our graduate education in our department.  As you know, Eyda goes beyond her duties to ensure the academic success of graduate students. The Outstanding Director of Graduate Studies Award is intended to recognize the exceptional contributions made to graduate education, a graduate program and/or the graduate student experience in that program.

Many nominations were made by administrators, faculty, and students from programs throughout the campus. While I regret to report that Eyda was not one of the two DGSs ultimately selected for the 2013 Award (los cogemos bajando), I want to emphasize the honor of the nomination itself. Over 80 DGSs serve the more than 200 graduate programs at the University of Maryland, and she can take great pride in having been nominated as an exemplar of this group.

The Graduate School will recognize Outstanding Director of Graduate Studies Award recipients at the Graduate School’s Fifth Annual Fellowship and Award Celebration, which will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, 3:00-5:00 p.m., in the David C. Driskell Center at 1214 Cole Student Activities Building. We hope that you will join your fellow nominees at this Award Celebration.

(El próximo año les limpiamos la cacharra. Un abrazo comadre)
