2024 Outstanding German Studies Major Award Recipient: Alex Mauris

Congratulations to Alex Mauris on being named one of this year's Outstanding German Studies Majors!

Alex Mauris is a senior studying psychology and German studies. Although of German descent, Alex's introduction to the language first came via a year of living in Munich during high school. He began taking German courses at Maryland to practice and refine his language skills, but soon found himself joining as part of the program due to the warm welcome he received from the GERS community. Since then, Alex has continued to immerse himself in German language and culture through a semester abroad at the University of Tübingen in 2023 and Delta Phi Alpha. Alex plans to graduate this spring with law school on the horizon, hoping to continue integrating his passions for research, law and German in his future endeavors.
