2024 German Studies Gerald E. and Martha M. Kightlinger Award Recipient: Justin Goodwin

Congratulations to Justin Goodwin, the 2024 recipient of the Gerald E. and Martha M. Kightlinger Family Student Support Current-Use Fund

Goodwin is a Junior double-majoring in German Studies and philosophy. His interest in German started when he took the less popular German class in High School and found the German people and language fascinating. His interest in German roared into its full form when he was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Air Force. He was stationed for four years total in Germany, at the beginning and end of his service in the US Air Force. Living in Germany and working with Germans increased his interest and fascination with all things German. Post-service, Goodwin found a new home at the University of Maryland where he was inspired by the faculty and students of the German Studies department to study German at the academic level. He hopes to study abroad in a German-speaking country and intern in Germany post graduation.
