Maryland Hispanic Applied Linguistics Conference (MHALC)

School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures | Spanish and Portuguese Friday, March 27, 2026 - March 28, 2026 Jimenez Hall

MHALC is organized by students and faculty in the Hispanic Applied Linguistics master’s degree program at the University of Maryland. This virtual symposium offers undergraduate students the unique opportunity to present their course papers on any aspect of Hispanic applied linguistics in a formal academic setting to an audience of experts and peers.

Join us, present your research, and learn more about the exciting undergraduate work being conducted by other students with an interest in Hispanic Applied Linguistics. 

The theme of MHALC 2026 is "Collaborative Futures in Hispanic Applied Linguistics." This year's theme explores the dynamic, bidirectional relationship between research and practice emphasizing collaboration, shared insights, and innovations that enrich both scholarship and practice (including, but not limited to teaching).

MHALC 2025 will take place March 27 & 28, 2026 online and in person at the University of Maryland, College Park campus.

  • March 27th will be a fully online day with academic presentations by students and faculty as well as institutional presentations.

  • March 28th will be a hybrid day, with in-person presentations by guest speakers also streamed online for registered participants.

Registration is free but required for all participants as well as presenters.
