Ghettos and Peripheries – “Catalunya”

Perejaume, a Catalan artist and writer born in Sant Pol de Mar in 1957, developed his artistic perspective immersing his work on the relationship between real physical and language, nature and culture, between poetic and agrarian experience. His creative work combines various mediums, including painting, sculpture, language, performance, video, and sound. In 2005, he was honored with the Catalonia National Prize for the Visual Arts from the Generalitat for his book Els cims pensamenters, and in 2006, the Spanish Ministry of Culture awarded him the National Prize for the Plastic Arts for his innovative approach to the relationship between art and territory. Some of Perejaume's notable works include the ceiling rosettes at the Liceu opera house (1999), retrospectives like Deixar de fer una exposició, 1999; Ai Perejaume, si veies la munió d’obres que t’envolten, no en faries cap de nova! in 2011, and his participation in the exhibition "The Thinking Machine" at the CCCB, featuring the video installation La rel de l’arbre és una roda (2016). His significant literary works include L’obra i la por, 2007; Pagèsiques (Edicions 62, 2011 – winner of the 2012 City of Barcelona Prize and the Lletra d’Or Prize the same year); Paraules locals, 2015, Treure una marededéu a ballar, 2018 and El sol i les fogueres, 2023.
