Martyn Clark

Martyn Clark is a Senior Data Scientist with the Academic Technology Experience group in the University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology. After receiving his BA in Cultural Area Studies from the College of Wooster, he spent several years in Japan as an English language instructor before returning to the US to earn an MA in ESL and PhD in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. From 2006 - 20012, he served as Assessment Director at the Center for Second Language Studies at the University of Oregon. After coming to Maryland, he spent five years as a researcher at the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language. His research interests include language testing and proficiency assessment, learning analytics, language program evaluation, and the relationship between instruction and outcomes.
