Curriculum Vitae

I received my Master's Degrees in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and General School Administration with a concentration in Second Language Education from the University of Iowa. Prior to my appointment at the University of Maryland (UMD), I taught at the University of Iowa and Pitzer College in Claremont California. In 2004 I received an award from the Center for Teaching Excellence at UMD. I have been a Chinese Oral Proficiency Tester certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) since 2008 and I am actively involved in the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Assessment. My teaching interests include developing curriculum to help students meet national standards as well as helping students with academic planning. During my 22 years of teaching experience, I have also offered my expertise as a volunteer at local non-profit Chinese language schools and provides assistance for scholarships and Chinese standardized exams from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in Washington, DC.
