Brazil Week 2026 Celebrates “Histories of Resistance”

Explore Brazil’s histories of resistance during Brazil Week 2026, Oct. 6–9 in Jiménez Hall.

The Portuguese and Brazilian Studies Program will host Brazil Week 2026: Histories of Resistance (Histórias de Resistência) Oct. 6–9 in the Jiménez Hall main lobby. The weeklong celebration will showcase undergraduate research, creative work, Brazilian film and music, and opportunities to connect with Portuguese program faculty and students.

Student projects from Portuguese courses will be featured in the lobby throughout the week, with students available to discuss their work on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and Thursday, Oct. 8. Visitors can also vote for their favorite research projects using a QR code displayed in the lobby; one project from each Portuguese class will be recognized in the competition.

Join the celebration

Brazil Week invites the campus community to explore the diverse histories, cultures and forms of resistance that shape Brazil. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stop by the research expo, support student presenters and participate in the project-voting competition.

All events are hosted by the Portuguese and Brazilian Studies Program in Jiménez Hall.
