Charlee Bezilla is currently the Associate Director of the Language House Living Learning Program. She obtained her PhD in Modern French Studies in 2021 from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a dissertation on eighteenth-century French literature, science, and the environmental humanities. She completed her MA in French at the University of Maryland, College Park and her BA in French and English at Penn State University.
She joined the University of Maryland in 2024 after serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor at George Washington University, where she developed and taught a wide variety of beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses on French and Francophone literature and culture from the medieval period to the present. She has also taught French courses at Northern Virginia Community College, the University of Maryland Global Campus, and Prince George’s Community College. From 2023 to 2026 she is serving as a representative of the Middle Atlantic region in the MLA Delegate Assembly. She has published in Digital Studies/Le champ numérique and Lumen as well as contributions to edited volumes on eighteenth-century French literature.
