About the Chinese Program

The Chinese program offers offers a B.A. and a minor for undergraduates. Students may also consider a double major in Chinese and another discipline, such as business, international relations, economics, or journalism. Our two Chinese minors provide more skeletal training in Chinese language or culture.

Our Chinese majors and minors have won 60 national scholarships since 2009, including 21 Gilman, 11 Fulbright, five Boren, four Freeman Asia, and one NSF.

Language Partner Program

The Language Partner Program (LPP) offers majors in any SLLC program at UMD the opportunity to meet with international students outside the classroom and practice their target language in an informal yet structured way. For international students, the LPP provides a forum for connecting with U.S. students and integrating into the UMD campus.
