Objects Of Desire: Online Exhibit

All are invited to view "Objects of Desire," a virtual exhibit compiled by the students of FREN498E.

All are invited to view "Objects of Desire," an online exhibit curated by the students of FREN498E, an advanced undergraduate course on the intersections of  French literature and material culture. How are objects represented, consumed, and obsessed over in modern France? What role do they play in the construction of class, gender, religious, ethnic, and national identities? What desires do they elicit? Under the direction of Dr. Beliaeva Solomon, undergraduate researchers  examined the cultural and historical significance of material objects as they appear in major literary works, by assembling and analysing documents drawn from digitized archives, virtual galleries, and other online sources.
