German Major awarded scholarship

The German Society of Maryland established an Award Program to recognize college and university students from Maryland majoring in German. Each year, the Society provides up to 3 awards of $1,000.00 each to outstanding German majors in the Maryland, DC region. This year majors from the German Studies department won two of the three available awards.

Anjali Gajendiran is a junior pursuing a double-degree in bioengineering and Germanic Studies. Anjali has been learning about the German language and its culture since high school and is passionate about using both her bioengineering and German skills in a career of service. Outside of the Germanic Studies Department, she is part of the University Honors program in the Honors College, works as an undergraduate teaching fellow in the BIOE department, and is a member of the Research, Instruction, and Service in Engineering (RISE) Academy.

Congratulations to Anjali Gajendiran as recipient of this year's awards!
