German Minor awarded Scholarship

The German Society of Maryland established an Award Program to recognize college and university students from Maryland minoring in German. Each year, the Society provides up to 3 awards of $500.00 each to outstanding German minors in the Maryland, DC region.

Alexander is an Information Science major in his fourth year and will graduate next month. He is an honors student in University Honors and received his citation in the Spring of 2021. He took on a minor in German during my sophomore year after reconnecting with my German heritage. Since then he has worked hard in and out of school to improve his German and even completed an internship in Munich last summer. Looking ahead, he plans to move to Germany in the year following graduation and start a career there.

Congratulations to Alexander Smead as recipient of this year's awards!
