Drawing on personal experience, Dr. Shimin Fang will discuss Chinese government strategies for Internet censorship. His talk will discuss the background, methods, and consequences of this censorship as well as how cyber citizens in China are pushing back.
 
方舟子以亲身经历讲述中国政府对互联网所做的监控, 包括背景, 监控方式,造成 的结果, 和网民维护言论自由权利所做的抗争。
 
Dr. Shimin Fang (aka Fang Zhouzi) is a native of Fujian Province, China. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China with a BS in Biology in 1990, and received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Michigan State University in 1995. In 1994, he created New Threads (Xin Yu Si, xys.org), which eventually became a major platform to expose scientific misconduct in China. Dr. Fang has published more than 20 books, and won the John Maddox Prize for standing up for science in 2012 and the Cliff Robertson Sentinel Award in 2013.
