Erica Maria Cefalo received her PhD in Modern French Studies from the University of Maryland in 2013. Her dissertation traces the evolution of spiritual ideas in French literature from before the 1789 Revolution to the first decades of the Third Republic. Published articles include “L’avenir de la religion dans Corinne et De la littérature de Mme de Staël” in the fall 2012 Revue Roumaine d’Études Francophones and “Fallen Angels in Restoration France: The Case for Compassion in Eloa, Ahasverus and Cedar ou la chute d’un ange” in the 2011 Quaderni di Studi Indo-Mediterranei.
Dr. Cefalo has taught a variety of French courses at the University of Maryland since 2007. She is currently the French Undergraduate Advisor.
