On Thursday, February 23, 2017 the University of Maryland’s Carey Law’s Women Leadership & Equality Program, the Francis King Carey School of Law, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the MLaw Programs presented the screening of No más bebés, a documentary about the civil rights lawsuit brought against the State of California, the U.S. government, and doctors by Mexican immigrant women who were sterilized in the 1960s and 1970s. The case is known as Madrigal v. Quilligan. The event featured a discussion panel, composed by professor Jana Singer, from the Maryland Carey School of Law and professors Evelyn Canabal-Torres and Ana Patricia Rodríguez, from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
