The Russian Department of the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is pleased to announce the establishment of the Maya Brin Endowment in Russian.

The Maya Brin Endowment has two facets: the Maya Brin Residency and the Maya Brin Distinguished Lecturership.

The Maya Brin Residency Program will enable the Russian Department to bring leading Russian scholars, artists, or cultural figures to campus for short-term stays ranging from 1 week to 1 semester. As influential representatives of their field, Maya Brin Residents will be figures around whom the intellectual life on campus can rally -- in particular among the existing strengths in Russian studies in the various departments in the College. With successive residents drawn from different disciplines, each residency program will create synergies to inspire new interdisciplinary initiatives in teaching, the training of graduate students, and scholarship. Residents will be drawn from the fine or performing arts, literature, journalism, politics, history, literary or art criticism, or any other branch of the humanities.

The Maya Brin Distinguished Lecturer is a hybrid position (see to apply), with responsibility for teaching at multiple levels in the Russian program and managing all events and activities related to the Residency. In addition, the Maya Brin Distinguished Lecturer

will build on the momentum that each residency generates, encouraging the development of interdisciplinary team-taught courses, for example, or facilitating collaboration among faculty with similar scholarly interests but housed in different departments.
