Coffee Conversations Spring 2020

Starting on Monday,  Feb. 3, every Monday (4:00 to 5:30pm) through April 27, on the Ground Floor, St. Mary's Hall

(No Coffee chat on Monday, March 16 and 30)

Join this weekly activity to practice, improve, or maintain your language skills in an informal, relaxed setting. In order to ensure that you are improving your skills, a native or near- native "facilitator" guides or oversees each Coffee Chat group. The facilitator can also give you vocab or grammar advice to help you better express yourself without interrupting the flow of conversation. Currently, 12 language tables are offered at the Language House Coffee Chats:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Tagalog

Other languages are featured occasionally during the semester. Call the Language House for more info on these non-weekly Coffee Chats or if you would like to add a language to the line-up.

Spring 2020 LH Events

Progressive Snack

Thursday, February 20th

The purpose of this event is for the residents in the Language House Immersion Program to share a part of what they have been learning about the culture of their target language with other students in the Language House through the preparation of foods that are representative of the languages/cultures they are studying.

A contest is also a part of the Progressive Snack. Each cluster in the Language House will be competing for best snack and presentation. The best three clusters will be picked to receive a cash prize. The judging of the event will be carried out through an online poll in which Language House residents will vote for their favorite dish and presentation by the cluster.

Talent Show

Monday, March 30th
