This 15-credit minor recognizes students who have undertaken a concentrated study of the language, literature/culture, and linguistics of Japan.

Note: Students with prior experience in Japanese must take the appropriate Foreign Language Placement Test (FLPT) and consult with the Japanese Minor Advisor:  Dr. Michele Mason.

MINOR REQUIREMENTS  (15 Credits)

Japanese Language Acquisition  (6 credits)

Japanese Linguistics  (3 credits)

Japanese Literature/Cultural Studies (3 credits)

One additional JAPN course from one of these categories. Student is free to choose which category. (3 credits)

Notes:

  • At least nine of the 15 hours required for the major must be at the 300-level or above
  • No more than 6 of the 15 credits toward the minor may transferred from Study Abroad.
