Join the Department of Germanic Studies for the celebration of German winter-holidays and for our year-long movie series: Volk ohne Humor?: The German Comedy Film. We will be screening our last film in this semester titled: Die Feuerzangenbowle (Helmut Weiss, 1944)

Die Feuerzangenbowle” (“The Punch Bowl”) is a German film directed by Helmut Weiss. The film tells a story about a famous writer who goes undercover as a student in a small town public school after being homeschooled during his youth. There, he experiences what he missed out on during his school-years and finds himself in the midst of a variety of shenanigans.

All screenings are free for the UMD community and will be shown with English subtitles. (Do be aware that films may contain disturbing images, language, and sexual content.)

Traditional German food, German Christmas-cookies, and Glühwein (non-alcoholic) will be served at 7pm; the film will begin at 7:30pm.
